Pregnancy Safe Products:Salima app analytics for October 23

Scan a product. Get a verdict that explains itself. Most beauty scanners flag almost everything. Open one, scan your bathroom shelf, and half your products come back red — so you learn to ignore them. That isn't caution. It's noise. Salima is built the other way round. Measured across thousands of real ingredient lists, most cosmetics come back safe — because most cosmetics genuinely are safe in pregnancy. So when something is worth knowing about, you'll believe it. IT TELLS YOU WHY Every flag names the ingredient, gives a low / medium / high risk level, explains the reasoning, and cites the guidance behind it. No mystery score out of ten. No colour without an argument. You see the reasoning and decide for yourself — which matters, because this is your pregnancy and your skin. IT KNOWS WHICH STAGE YOU'RE IN Advice that's right while pregnant can be wrong while nursing. Topical retinoids are best avoided in pregnancy, but the picture changes during breastfeeding — and almost nothing else makes that distinction. Salima has four modes: Pregnancy, Breastfeeding, Trying to Conceive, and General. The verdict changes with the stage you choose. FROM YOUR SERUM TO YOUR SHAMPOO Pregnancy safety isn't only a skincare question. The same rulebook covers hair products — minoxidil, formaldehyde smoothing treatments — sunscreen filters, nail polish, deodorant, and the fragrance hiding in almost everything. If it goes on your body and prints an ingredient list, Salima can read it and give you a verdict. NO BARCODE? SCAN THE LABEL Barcode databases are thin for cosmetics. Salima reads the printed INCI list directly with the camera, so a product in no database still gets a verdict. Cosmetics must print their full ingredient list on the pack by law. If you can see it, Salima can read it — even after the box went in the bin. HONEST ABOUT FRAGRANCE "Fragrance" and "parfum" conceal the actual ingredients, and roughly two thirds of cosmetics contain them. That's worth knowing. But it is not an established pregnancy risk, and Salima won't pretend otherwise. You get a plain transparency report rather than a scare, and it does not drag the product's verdict down. The genuine concerns are real and different: fragrance is the leading cause of cosmetic skin reactions, and strong scents commonly trigger nausea in pregnancy. We say that instead. It exists to help you ask sharper questions — about a specific ingredient, in a specific product, at a specific stage. Ingredient lists change without notice, and no app can see inside a factory. For anything that matters, talk to your midwife, obstetrician, or doctor. Questions: support@essexsoftware.com
