type-WISE: Font Quiz Game app analytics for October 24

Can you tell Helvetica from Arial? Most people can’t. type-WISE teaches you to spot the difference between look-alike typefaces, letter by letter, then tests you in a fast, timed quiz. Let this app WISEN you up. (We’re going to use that pun a few more times, so hold tight.) LEARN • Compare two similar typefaces side by side, across every letter and number • Overlay the two letters and zoom in to see exactly where they differ • Read the story behind each typeface: who designed it, when, and why PLAY • See a word, pick the typeface it’s set in, and beat the clock • Three levels per pair, and the clock gets shorter every level • Faster correct answers score more points • Get a grade for every game, just like school (but fun) • Review every answer afterwards to see what fooled you TRACK • Statistics for every pair show how WISE (there it is again) you’ve become TYPEFACE PAIRS Free: • Helvetica vs. Arial • Cochin vs. Georgia • Gill Sans vs. Verdana Unlock in the app: • Didot vs. Bodoni • Baskerville vs. Times New Roman • American Typewriter vs. Courier • Futura vs. Trebuchet WHO IT’S FOR Graphic design students, working designers, and anyone who has ever had strong opinions about Comic Sans. WHY TYPOGRAPHY? This isn’t an app that will teach you everything about fonts or typefaces. But it’s a start. We believe typography is an important part of communication, and the better people are at communicating, the better this world could be. What part of YOUR life could better typography improve? + Relationships: How come those love letters in ALL-CAPS aren’t getting the right response? + Business: Why aren’t your Comic Sans flyers bringing in more serious customers? + Work: Maybe that party invite email could’ve used a more readable font size than 72 pt. + Family: … Sorry. Couldn’t think of how typography can make your family less annoying. If you’ve read this far, you might as well install the app now! (please)
