Earth is divided into hexagons. Claim the one you are standing in, and only that one. First claim wins it forever. One hexagon is 21.7 metres corner to corner: a bit more ground than a tennis court, in a different shape. There are 1,660,954,464,122 of them covering the planet, and about 485 billion are on land. If every person alive claimed one a day, the land alone would take over five hundred years. It is free. Claiming, photos, check-ins, all of it, however many hexagons you take. THE THREE RULES Claims are permanent. Nobody can take a hexagon off you, outbid you for it, or let it expire. The first person to stand somewhere holds it for good. You can only claim where you stand. Your phone sends its position and the server decides which hexagon that is. You cannot claim by tapping the map, and you cannot claim somewhere you are not. Your name is yours to show. Your first claim starts out private: it shows as Anonymous on the map until you decide otherwise. Every hexagon you hold has its own switch, and you can change your mind whenever you like. PHOTOS Stand in a hexagon you own and put one photo on it, taken with the camera, there and then. The photo has to be of the place, taken minutes ago, or it is refused. It becomes the hexagon's face on the map. Before it is published, the time and location buried in the file are stripped: what goes on the map is the picture, nothing else. Together, these photos are building something no satellite has: a ground-level picture of the world, one hexagon at a time. Anyone can report a photo, which hides it at once until a person has looked at it. You can replace or take down your own whenever you like. CHECK-INS AND STREAKS Standing on somebody else's hexagon, you can check in, a permanent record that you were there, and leave one photo of your own on its page, like signing a guest book. Claim a hexagon, check in somewhere, or add a photo, and the day counts. Do it again tomorrow and you have a streak. AND ALSO The Daily: one thing to do today, the same for everyone. Rivalries: pick a side, and every hexagon you stand on scores for it. The Feed: the world's photographs, day by day, and the days of the people you follow. Nobody can follow you until you say yes. Boards for the world, your country and your town. Your week on Earth as a short film you can share. Notifications you choose, category by category. PRO, IF YOU WANT IT Everything about claiming stays free, forever. Pro is for people who want their ground to say more: extra stats and insights, colours for every hex you own, your name in gold with a permanent member number in join order, and streak protection. Pro is an optional subscription, monthly or yearly, billed by Google Play at the price shown before you buy. It renews automatically until you cancel, which you can do at any time in your Google Play subscriptions; you keep everything until the end of the period you paid for. Already a member? Sign in with the same account and your membership comes with you. SAFETY Never trespass and never take a risk to reach a hexagon. Nothing here is worth it. A claim is a record in a game: it gives you no rights over any real land. PRIVACY Your exact position is never published. Only the hexagon is. Location is read only while you are using the app. There is no advertising, and you can delete your account from inside the app. Terms of use and privacy: https://claimthe.earth/legal
