Rear Arm Modification Guide for DBK2600KIT This guide walks you through the process of modifying your own rear trailing arms for use with the Datsport DBK2600KIT R31 rear brake conversion. All necessary parts are included in the kit—just follow these simple steps for best results. 🛠️ Step 1: Drill Out Original Handbrake Cable Hole Use a step drill to enlarge the factory handbrake cable hole to 22mm for compatibility with the R31 cable assembly. 🛠️ Step 2: Clearance for Handbrake Cable Grind back the ridge near the cable passage point to prevent any rubbing. This ensures smooth operation and avoids long-term wear. 🛠️ Step 3: Remove Original Brake Brackets Cut off all existing factory brake line and bracket mounts. This allows for proper fitment of the new braided lines and saddles provided in your DBK2600KIT.   🛠️ Step 4: Clean Up Welds Using a flap disc, tidy up any leftover welds or rough spots. This not only improves aesthetics but ensures that new components mount flush.   🛠️ Step 5: Drill Brake Line Clip Mount Using the supplied brake line clip holder, mark the arm with a scribe and drill a 5mm hole. 🛠️ Step 6: Prepare Hole for Saddle Clamp (Tap After Coating) Using the reference photos, drill the 5mm hole now but do not tap the thread yet. We recommend leaving the hole untapped until after your arms have been powdercoated. This ensures the powdercoat doesn't fill or clog the threads, giving you a cleaner result. Once coating is complete, tap the hole to M6 before final assembly. This will allow the saddle clamp to secure the handbrake cable away from the rear flange without interference.   🛠️ Step 6: Reconditioning the Coil Bucket Area Make sure the spring pocket area is smooth and clean for proper fitment of the coil or adjustable perch. You may also check bearing fitment during this step.   📏 Fitment Check & Final Notes Once all modifications are complete, check for final clearances and ensure bushings are pressed in properly.
