It must read files in folders you pick, write every edit back to the ORIGINAL file, and monitor those folders for changes made by other apps. Android's "All files access" (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) is what makes this possible; without it, TaskForge cannot open your folder and does not work.
