NKMP KoalaCounter vs ReCER Field Collection Uso & Estadísticas
The NKMP Koala Counter app has been developed by the National Koala Monitoring Program to enable ecologists to conduct systematic surveys for koalas. Both single-count and double-count transects are supported. Transects can be mapped against satellite imagery, and photos of habitat/animals can be taken while surveying.
The app uses your phone/tablet's GPS hardware to track your location while you are conducting a survey. The app will continue to track your location as long as you have an active survey, even if you move the app to the background.
Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Data is recorded for a collecting event and includes information about the collecting site, taxonomic units (species) assigned to samples, information about the samples and information about the population of each taxonomic unit (species) at a site. The recorded field data is returned in a digital format (.csv file) to a user specified email address.
The app was originally designed as a data collecting tool for Restore and Renew, a project that gathers landscape level genomic data for land management. Restore and Renew is led by the Research Centre for Ecosystem Resilience (ReCER); at the Australian Institute of Botanical Science (AIBS) at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney.
Usage Notes:
• Upon export, all data will be sent to the email entered at login as two separate CSVs – one for sites, and one for samples.
• When launching the app, use the "myself" button to log in, unless you have been provided specific credentials by the Restore & Renew team or have been directed to use the seedbank login.
