wachemo university is one of the higher education institutions of ethiopia which is found in south west of south nations nationalities and peoples regional state in haddiya zone, hossana town which is 232km far from addis ababa, the capital city of ethiopia. its foundation was laid in its current location in 2009 g.c. for the first time, the university commenced its function in 2012 admitting 538 students in 12 departments under 4 colleges. currently, the university has admitted over 30000 students in regular and continuing education programs in 73 departments under 7 colleges, namely: engineering and technology, natural and computational sciences, medicine and health sciences, agricultural sciences, business and economics, social sciences and humanities,education & behavioral sciences. the university is running 73 undergraduate program and 73 post graduate program. 2 (two) ph.d programs in soil sciences and educational leadership and policy studies in 7 colleges and two schools. currently, in total including evening, weekend and summer students, there are around 34,000 (thirty four thousand students). number of academic staffs is 1688 and number of administration staff is 2346 totaling 4034 staff in the university. the university runs master programs in engineering and technology, natural and computational sciences, medicine and health sciences, agricultural sciences, business and economics, social sciences, humanities,education & behavioral sciences and school of law.
