Golf Time is an app that tracks your playing time. It can help you and your golf club to maintain the right pace of play. I once heard Göran Zachrisson saying that golf is a social game, where people meet, talk, and have fun while playing. I agree! But, for everyone’s enjoyment on the course, it’s good to keep to the round times according to the course’s pace, for example, 4 hours and 10 minutes. Finding a ball within 3 minutes is fundamental for tournament play, but also when you register a round for handicap purposes in casual play. In competitions, it is an absolute requirement that all players in the field search for the ball according to Rule 18.2. After exactly three minutes, the ball is lost. With Golf Timer, you can, according to Rule 18.2a(1)/1, also temporarily pause the search time, for example when allowing a waiting group to play through. Maximum 40 seconds for a player to prepare a shot is another rule (also applies on the green). If a threesome of skilled players reduces the preparation to 30 seconds, it would make a significant impact on round time. 10 seconds times 3 players having an average score of 75 strokes per player gives 12.5 minutes per player. A total of 37.5 minutes per round can be saved. Round time: shows how long you have been playing. Ball search: clearly indicates when the 3- minute time has been reached. After that, the ball is lost. Shot preparation: here there is great potential for helping you to save time.
