Crimson Library のアプリ分析 10月21日

CrimsonLibrary is a candlelit reading room for the great Gothic classics — Dracula, Frankenstein, Carmilla, the tales of Edgar Allan Poe, and two dozen more novels and short stories, all in the public domain and free to read in full. If you love vampire fiction, haunted-house novels, or classic horror literature and want a reading app built entirely around that mood, this is your shelf. Open the app and you land in "Tonight" — a nightly pick of one tale, a streak ring counting how many nights running you've read, and a "Continue reading" shelf for whatever you left mid-chapter. From there the library fans out by Author (with a full illustrated biography for each of the fifteen writers in the catalog — Stoker, Shelley, Poe, Le Fanu, Stevenson, Walpole, and more) and by Theme — curated shelves like "Brides of the Night," "The Haunted House," and "The Doppelgänger," each with its own short essay from the salon's host setting the mood before you begin. Every work opens with a page of atmospheric scene-setting — a "Host's Monologue" — before the text itself begins. KEY FEATURES ✓ A real library, not a stub — full novels and short stories, not previews or paywalled chapters ✓ Bookmark any passage and leave a margin note, exactly where you left it, down to the sentence ✓ Read-aloud with adjustable voice and speech rate for hands-free listening ✓ A nightly streak that tracks your reading habit, with milestones at 3, 7, 14, 30, 60 and 100 nights ✓ Adjustable typography — serif or sans body text, size and line-height sliders, so the page reads the way you want it to ✓ An in-line glossary — archaic terms like "revenant," "schloss," and "Walpurgisnacht" are underlined right in the text and explain themselves in a tap ✓ A gallery of period engravings and drawings — Fuseli, Goya, Doré, Beardsley — sourced from the public-domain collections that illustrated this fiction when it was first printed ✓ Everything — bookmarks, notes, streak, reading position — is saved on your device the moment you make it, with no account to create HOW IT WORKS 1. Pick a tale from "Tonight," a theme, or an author, or search the full library by title 2. Read at your own pace — the app remembers exactly where you stopped, down to the paragraph 3. Select any passage to bookmark it or attach a note; tap an underlined term for its definition without losing your place 4. Come back tomorrow — your streak, your notes and your progress are all waiting exactly as you left them WHY CRIMSONLIBRARY — most e-reader apps treat every book the same way. This one is built for one shelf and one mood: the Gothic novel, from Walpole's 1764 "Castle of Otranto" through Poe, Stoker and the Edwardian ghost-story writers who came after them. The typography, the color palette, the author biographies and the theme essays are all written for that shelf specifically, not generated from a generic template. Every text is genuinely in the public domain, sourced and credited to Project Gutenberg on its own page. PRIVACY — CrimsonLibrary works with your bookmarks, notes and reading history stored only on your device. There's no account, no login, and nothing you write is uploaded anywhere. The app does fetch public-domain author portraits and cover art from Wikimedia Commons as you browse, which requires an internet connection for images to load — no personal data is attached to those requests. Questions or ideas? We'd like to hear them.
