Kathleen, age 53, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025. Kathleen O’Hanlon was born in New York Hospital, raised in the Bronx, and on Staten Island. She graduated from New Dorp High School, earned her bachelor’s degree from The College of Staten Island, and her master’s degree from Wagner College. In her youth, she played soccer, worked at Seduttos, and was a devoted Yankee fan. She enjoyed traveling and visiting zoos and aquariums. She had a passion for fostering cats, raising two sets of sibling cats as her own. She was an avid fan of sloths and penguins. She was a faithful member of the Roman Catholic Church. After graduation, she was employed by the NYC Public Schools as an elementary school teacher, where she taught for over 25 years. She was a dedicated educator and worked at Public School 50 for her teaching career, touching many students' lives. She was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society in Education. The family would like to express their gratitude to Alma, who provided home aide care and companionship, and to two lifelong friends, Kelly F. and Jennifer M. , who provided their time, kindness, and constant support. She was the daughter of Rosanne and the late Donald P O’Hanlon. In addition to her mother, Kathleen is survived by her sister Denise, her two half-sisters, and her two nephews, Robert and Christopher, whom she loved very much. At Hanley Funeral Home- Friends and family will be received Friday, July 25, from 2 to 4 p. m. and 7 to 9 p. m. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 26, at 12 noon, followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Staten Island Council for Animal Welfare.
