A fresher, vibrant style of Chenin Blanc from fruit grown in the Helderberg area of Stellenbosch. Winemaker Narina Cloete makes this as simply as possible: pick ripe fruit, press whole bunches, ferment in stainless steel and allow it to see on lees for two months. The result is a wonderfully refreshing, zesty Chenin Blanc full of lemon-lime citrus and juicy white peach. A summery, vibrant wine at a very smart price that should please lovers of Sauvignon and Chardonnay equally. Just 12.5% alcohol too. Now – 2028 "Very light, bright, uncomplicated fruity nose. Real varietal attack on the palate. Super-pure. Unadorned Chenin with just a touch of apples and honey but I wouldn’t dismiss it as a short-term player. It has such bright acidity, I wouldn’t be worried about putting this in the cellar. GV. 16.5/20. 2025-2029." Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com, 9th June 2026 The name Blaauwklippen translates as ‘Blue Stones’ in honour of the granite outcrops in the vineyard and the estate’s story begins in 1682 when Dutchman Gerrit Jansz Visscher was granted the land by Stellenbosch’s founder Simon van der Stel. Vines were planted almost immediately and the farm – now owned Willem Niel, a descendent of French Huguenots – recorded its first vintage in 1709. It is the oldest wine estate in Stellenbosch and became South Africa’s first registered company. Today Narina Cloete is in charge of the winemaking, a role she has held since 2016. Under Narina’s stewardship the wines have improved steadily and showcase plenty of Stellenbosch character.

Medium to full-bodied, layered and textured, it has a delicate, pure core of fruit, with a tense, linear mid-palate of fine-grained tannins and bright acids that carry through the long, ethereal and saline finish. Crafted from a blend of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier—all de-stemmed—that was sourced from vines spread across 14 plots in 14 lieux-dits, this terrific contribution to the vintage was matured for 24 months in a combination of barrels (30% new) and wooden tanks. Patrick Jasmin's Côte-Rôtie, which is from a traditional 95% Syrah - 5% Viognier blend, comes from 11 different parcels spread throughout the appellation. Typically, a bouquet of violets and stewed red fruits precedes a palate of darker Autumnal fruit with some cooler granitic notes over a framework of fine-grained tannins. Although it is surprisingly approachable on its youthful fruit, it cellars well for a decade and far longer in finer vintages.The name 'La Giroflarie' is used to distinguish this principal cuvée from a special cuvée called 'Olea' that Patrick first made in 2015.
