About emDocs Our Purpose We are a group of emergency physicians who want to provide a truly current resource for the rapidly developing field of emergency medicine. We subscribe to the free, open-access medical education initiative, and our goal is to inform the global EM community with timely and high yield content about what providers like YOU are seeing and doing everyday in your local ED. Our Content Papers While it’s admittedly a little campy to describe it this way, we like to the focus of our write-ups to generally fall within one of these three categories (“DOCs”): Developments: Reviews of recent literature, as well as recaps of EM conferences make up the majority of our content. This is what FOAMed is all about – high-quality information on the bleeding edge of current knowledge. Oddities: Just when you think you’ve seen it all, you find yourself confronted by something completely new (this seems to happen to me every shift). We love unusual presentations of common diseases and the usual presentations of uncommon diseases, and hope to expand our case bank in the near future. Controversies: Well-argued stances that may be at odds with current practice. Excellent examples include Myths in DKA Management and Furosemide in the Treatment of Acute Pulmonary Edema. M&M/Bouncebacks We believe that bounceback and M&M cases can provide unique lessons for providers of all levels. We plan to begin regularly posting these cases as well, with the hope that mistakes will be less likely to occur if providers are able to openly discuss their experiences with one another. We welcome any additions that you may have. Questions We frequently post board review pearls in this section, as well as highlights from posted articles. Eczema is a common inflammatory skin condition characterised histologically by spongiosis with varying degrees of acanthosis, and a superficial perivascular lymphohistiocytic infiltrate. The clinical features may include itching, redness, scaling and clustered papulovesicles. The condition may be induced by a wide range of external and internal factors acting singly or in combination. The terms eczema and dermatitis are generally regarded as synonymous.
