Leichtbau für starke, tonnenschwere Maschinen: Das Institut für Fertigungstechnik und Werkzeugmaschinen (IFW) der Leibniz Universität Hannover will in Kooperation mit dem Institut für Polymerwerkstoffe und Kunststofftechnik (PuK) der Technischen Universität Clausthal, dem Landmaschinenhersteller Krone und dem Leichtbauexperten M+D Composites Technology GmbH den Feldhäcksler BiG X in ein Leichtbaukonzept überführen. „Wir versprechen uns davon eine signifikante Reduktion des Kraftstoffverbrauchs und damit eine Verminderung von schädlichen Treibhausgasen“, erläutert IFW-Mitarbeiter Dr.-Ing. Carsten Schmidt, Leiter der Forschungskooperation am Forschungszentrum CFK Nord in Stade.
