For those who live and breathe internal combustion engines. Explore and customize engines from single-cylinder to V12, plus their gearboxes, in real-time 3D. Change the layout, valve gear, or firing timing and see and hear what happens. [SEAMLESS ENGINE MORPHING] Imagine a transparent engine that keeps running as you change its design. Change the cylinder count, V angle, or valvetrain, and watch the engine smoothly transform into its new configuration without stopping. Crankshaft phasing shifts, camshafts split or merge, and cylinder heads reshape before your eyes. Watch the transformation and discover why engines are built the way they are. [BUILD YOUR OWN ENGINE] Choose inline, V, or flat layouts, then fine-tune the details: • 1 to 12 cylinders • Bore, stroke, and V-bank angle • Firing order and ignition timing • SOHC, DOHC, OHV, VTEC, and desmodromic valve gear • Timing belt, chain, or gear-driven cams • Valve diameter and included valve angle • Reverse-flow or Cross-flow port layouts • Normal or reverse crank rotation Recreate a classic sports-car engine, an American pushrod V8, or a high-revving motorcycle engine—or dream up a design of your own. [SEE INSIDE THE GEARBOX] Go beyond the engine and explore working transmissions in real-time 3D: • 2-shaft and 3-shaft synchromesh gearboxes • Dog Box (motorcycle-style) • Editable gear tooth counts and ratios Watch the clutch, shift forks, and gears in action from any angle. [FOUR WAYS TO EXPLORE] GearVision See which gears and components are transmitting power, highlighted in color. Follow the power flow as you shift. MotionStep Tap to freeze the engine at any moment. Step the crank angle forward or backward to study the cams, rockers, valves, and pistons. Rotate, pan, and zoom even while paused. TechTour Interactive 3D tours that reveal how things work: Four-stroke Engine, Firing Order, Synchromesh, and VTEC. Learn by watching the parts move. Engines Share your own engine builds and download creations from users around the world. Browse official and community engines, post your designs, share to X, and give likes. Share engine data across Android and iOS. Contests are planned. [ENGINE SOUNDS THAT RESPOND TO YOUR SETTINGS] These aren't just recordings played back at different speeds. Developed with Sound Design Lab, the audio combines individual firing pulses, engine-order tones, and random sound components, synthesized in real time as the engine runs. Change cylinder count or ignition timing and the engine note changes too. For example, take an even-firing inline-four's smooth, high-revving scream and change the firing setup to hear the deeper, distinctive uneven-firing note associated with the crossplane crankshaft in Yamaha's YZF-R1. Engine sounds are included—no extra purchase required. [VEHICLE PHYSICS MODEL] Torque curves, gear and final-drive ratios, vehicle weight, tire size, clutch engagement, and tire grip all feed into a real-time model of engine load, RPM, and vehicle speed. Experience how engine RPM responds to throttle inputs and gear changes, along with the dynamics of accelerating from a standstill. [READY-TO-EXPLORE ENGINES] Jump in with preset engines inspired by classic sports cars, high-revving motorcycles, and American V8s. Explore their different layouts and sounds, or make your own.
