This one is not. • Your messages are read and sorted on your phone. Spam detection, categorizing, codes, summaries, expenses — all of it runs locally, with no server involved. • No account and no sign-in. There is nothing to breach. • Your messages, contacts and codes are never sold and never used to target ads. • The app's own database is excluded from cloud backup, so your texts don't leave that way. • One honest exception: translation. When YOU tap Translate on a message, that one message is sent to a translation service so it can be translated — nothing else about you goes with it, and it never happens on its own. Ads never see your message content. ■ AFTER CALL When a call ends, Messages can show a card offering to text that person, schedule a message for later, or send a photo. It is optional, it never reads your call history and it never records calls. Turn it off any time in Settings → After call. ■ WHY IT NEEDS SMS PERMISSION Android only lets one app be your default texting app, and only that app can send, receive and organize texts.
