Session Title: Injection Drug-Use Associated Infections: Updates and Models of Care Presented By: Dr. Thakarar Session Objectives: 1. Describe the epidemiology of infections associated with injection drug use (IDU) 2. Summarize Maine Medical Center endocarditis and harm reduction studies 3. Understand evidence-based strategies to prevent IDU-associated infections. Session Title: Damage Control in Post 2017 Pain Policy -- "When You Throw Something Away, Where is "Away"? Presented By: Dr. Norris Session Objectives: 1. Review the intention of the CDC Opioid Prescribing Guidelines vs the Unintended Consequences . 2. Consider some of the clinical outcomes of these consequences. 3. Discover opportunities for being part of a continued team effort in assisting patients impacted by these policies.
