The City of Calistoga was established in 1886 as a general law city within Napa County, California. The city operates under a council-manager form of government in which the elected City Council is tasked with establishing policies, enacting ordinances, and defining the city's vision. The City’s mayor primarily fulfills ceremonial duties and serves as the presiding officer of the City Council. The elected officials are responsible for appointing a city manager and a city attorney.
