4-05 Box, 16:22 - Squad 4 was dispatched to the intersection of Trapp Road and Three Notch Road for the reported motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles. Chief 4A arrived on the scene and took command. Squad 4 and Engine 41 arrived shortly after. On June 9th, 2023, at approximately 14:47 hours, units from the SDVFD&RS were alerted for an outside gas leak in the area of Saint Thomas Moore Lane and Medleys Neck Road. Shortly thereafter, Chief 6 (Windsor) and Engine 61 responded. Chief 6 arrived on scene to find 2 subjects with extreme burns on 80 to 85 percent of their body. Chief 6 established the command. Engine 61 arrived on scene, assisted with blocking the southbound lane for scene safety. Chief 6A (Stroud) arrived on scene and proceeded to the residence to investigate. Meanwhile, MDO 18, Ambulance 68C and a BLS Ambulance from Company 19 arrived on the scene and requested for 2 Category B Priority 2 flyouts. The New Rescue Squad was built by REV Group, Inc., KME Fire Apparatus, and is completely outfitted with all new modern equipment allowing the members of SFDFD to provide Auto Extraction, Rope Rescue, Water Rescue and any additional type of incident that would involve someone being trapped in, under, or on something. Take the proper precautions when operating fireworks. • Never disassemble or try to make your own fireworks. • Don't point sparklers, or fireworks at yourself or others, especially when lighting them. • Only light fireworks on the ground and in areas that are dry and fire-resistant. • Don't attempt to ignite fireworks at the same time. • Never allow young children to handle fireworks or sparklers to prevent firework-related injuries. • Always keep a portable fire extinguisher close by. Also, keep a water hose or buckets of water nearby to put out fires. • If fireworks malfunction, don't relight them! Douse and soak malfunctioning fireworks with water then throw them away. • Resist the urge to bring your dog to a fireworks display. The safest place for them is at home where it's familiar, quiet and not crowded. Never allow young children to handle fireworks or sparklers to prevent firework-related injuries.
