台灣地區每年約有6.2萬人的死因歸於高血壓、高血脂、高血糖等三高相關疾病，其中高血壓在30-39歲的盛行率為9.7%，65歲以上則達64.2%；高血脂的盛行率為25.6%，隨著年齡增加而上升，56-70歲達最高點；糖尿病在18歲以上的盛行率為11.1%，且40歲以下的患者在過去15年內成長三倍。三高初期通常沒有症狀，定期健康檢查便成為維護健康的重要關鍵。因此政府在2025年初提出「健康台灣-三高防治888計畫」，希望透過早期發現、團隊介入，以及長期追蹤與成效評估，來降低三高相關的慢性病死亡率，而成人健檢就是啟動健康生活的開始。 　　本期糖尿病家族將從成人健檢三高防治計畫與代謝症候群談起。成人健檢可以提供有關血壓、血脂、血糖、尿蛋白、腎功能、肝功能、腰圍，及身體質量指數等健康數據，來判定是否符合代謝症候群的標準。代謝症候群不是疾病，對健康的傷害是可以逆轉的。 　　心臟衰竭的盛行率在過去15年間成長超過一倍，而研究發現糖尿病患者發生心臟衰竭的風險顯著高於一般人。從穩定血糖至改善心臟功能，糖尿病與心臟衰竭共同照護已是國際認定治療的趨勢。此外代謝異常脂肪性肝病，強調只要有脂肪肝，且合併任一代謝風險因子，即可診斷。由於糖尿病是脂肪肝及肝纖維化的危險因子，所以美國糖尿病學會建議所有糖尿病患者都應該評估脂肪肝及肝纖維化的風險，對於中重度脂肪肝纖維化患者建議藥物治療。
