When you envision iconic sunglasses worn by equally statured men from yesteryear, there’s one that undoubtedly springs to mind most: Paul Newman’s Aviators.   A signature accessory of the great actor, Newman pioneered the transition of aviator frames, which were originally designed for pilots (hence the name), into becoming a lifestyle accessory for one and all. With exaggerated proportions, courtesy of a bold acetate frame and with a filled in bridge and tear-drop lenses, they’re a certified classic that’s always featured in one form or another in our collections.   In celebration of Newman and to channel his spirit of effortless cool, we’ve collaborated with the luxury media mogul Wei Koh, the founder of The Rake and Revolution magazines and horology expert, on one exclusive frame fitted with two distinctive coloured lens.   For the first time, these frames feature a flexible sports nose piece and anti-slip inserts within the ear tips. As a result of these design details, the frames sit far more comfortably on your face than any vintage or similar frame would. Crafted from premium quality Italian tortoiseshell acetate that measures 8mm in thickness, which is above industry average, the frame front has been bevelled, sanded, filed, polished and buffed by hand. With the choice of two different lenses – a dark forest green and a vintage gold mirror – we believe that these frames are one of our most expressive creations to date. In case you were wondering where the renegade name comes from, these frames have been named after Wei’s dearly beloved canine friend Bandit.
