New earthquakes are checked in the background. iOS determines when background checks run, so notifications may arrive some time after an earthquake occurs. EXPLORE EACH EARTHQUAKE • Open detailed earthquake information on the USGS website • Share earthquake information with friends and family • On iPad, view the earthquake list and map side by side NEARBY NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS For each earthquake, see the two nuclear power plants nearest to the epicenter, including their distance. Read the related Wikipedia article, with an optional translation. PRIVACY Your location is used only to show your position on the map. It is never sent to a server.
