SEARCH THE ROOMS: Six floors, six hours, and a limited number of winding keys. Each search costs a key, so pick your rooms with care. Clear the fog and look for cigar ash, ink smudges, a glove fiber, a cane mark on the boards. The body only lies at the scene from the hour of the murder on, so the scene itself tells you when it happened. CONFRONT THE SUSPECTS: Every clue points to a habit: a left-handed grip, ink-stained fingers, a walking cane. Show a clue to a suspect who shares that habit and watch them react. Small liars crack and confess a petty secret. The killer sweats, denies and loses their nerve. MAKE THE ARREST: Lock in who, with what and when on the three wheels of the tower clock. The killer hid the weapon where they claimed to be one hour later. You get two arrests per case. Miss both and the killer slips into the fog.
