Every stadium on the Ruta de la Barra has fallen silent. A grumpy storm cloud called El Silencio has hushed the crowds, and only one drummer can get them singing again: Kuntur the condor, with his bombo strapped on. Ecuabeat: Barra Beat is a one-thumb rhythm game set under the floodlights. Gold balls drop down three lanes towards a glowing line. Hit the right drum as each one crosses it, keep your streak going, and your side works the ball up the pitch until it hits the back of the net. HOW IT PLAYS • Three drums: Bombo, Redoblante and Platillo. • Every hit is judged PERFECTO, BIEN or FALLO, and your combo multiplier builds up to x4. • Eight hits in a row is a pass; four passes is a GOL. THE RUTA DE LA BARRA Drum your way across Ecuador: Esmeraldas, Manta, Guayaquil, Cuenca, Loja, Ambato, a bonus trip to the Galápagos and the grand final in Quito. Each city has its own soundtrack and its own groove – marimba on the coast, sanjuanito in the highlands, albazo in the capital. • Four matches per city, then a boss match against El Silencio himself. He floods the lanes with grey balls and, further along the route, hides the top of the track in fog. • Beat the boss to unlock Leyenda: the same five matches, faster and busier, with tougher targets. That's 80 matches in all. • Every match has two or three optional Retos – a big combo, no Silencio hits, every Cinta held to the end – with a medal for each one you complete. • Practise any match you've already won at 75%, 90% or full tempo, with no stars at stake.
