The lens features a 4:1 or 6:1 zoom and an intriguing macro function for close-up work. 500 ASA Auto Exposure- Designed Exclusively for Pro8/19 500TWhen Super 8 cameras were new, they left the factories with perfectly calibrated auto exposure systems designed to support Kodachrome  40 ASA and Ektachrome 160 ASA film stock. Today, these stock and these ASA no longer even exist in Super 8  film.  Auto exposure is typically electronic, and these components age and drift out of tolerance.  The 412xl & 617xl have be adapted so they can be calibrated to modern color negative film with ASA 50, 200, and the addition of a NEW  500 ASA setting.   With these settings and calibrations, these cameras now have the exposure accuracy for modern use.   You also have to option of using full manual exposure, so as you progress in your understanding of film exposure, you can advance to manual exposure.  Optical Integrity Over time, optical impurities can invade lenses, old lubricants can deteriorate and spray across elements,  fungus and mold can enter the optics and some optical components simply break down with age.
