THE SPREAD Open the device and the paper opens with it. Not two panes of an app side by side: one edition, set across two facing pages, with the fold running down the gutter exactly where a broadsheet's fold runs. The masthead crosses the fold. The lead story begins on the left page and continues on the right, with a real continuation line. When the lead is short, the edition shares itself out so neither page is left empty. If you would rather have the conventional two sections side by side, that is a setting. Both are built; you choose. The paper also lays itself out from the space it is given rather than from a list of devices, so it reads correctly upright, turned wide, in a split-screen pane, and on a larger display when a device opens out. ONE PRESS TO FILE Two Control Centre controls, File a Story and Today's Edition, which you can also put on the Action Button or the Lock Screen. The friction in a journal is the distance between having the thought and having somewhere to put it. This is the shortest version of that distance. SHARE AS A CLIPPING Export any story as a newspaper clipping for the share sheet. Black-bar redaction blurs recipients, lines, dates, or your byline before anything is shared. MAKE IT YOURS A typewriter composer with an active-line highlight that auto-saves every keystroke. Edition styles, alternate app icons, and a discreet Lock Screen widget showing issue number and press run, never the words themselves. PRIVATE BY DEFAULT All data lives on your device. No accounts. No analytics. No tracking. Optional Face ID lock keeps the paper closed when the phone isn't. Sync is off by default, nothing leaves your device unless you choose it. If you want your paper on more than one device, you can turn on private iCloud sync: it travels only through your own iCloud, end-to-end private, with no account and no servers of ours.
