Learn xiangqi — Chinese chess — from your very first move. Xiangqiful teaches you the board, the pieces and the rules, then reviews every game you play with a real engine and turns your mistakes into tomorrow's practice. All on your device, no account needed. Most xiangqi apps let you play. Xiangqiful teaches you, then makes you stronger. LEARN → PLAY → ANALYZE → TRAIN ■ LEARN XIANGQI FROM ZERO • 80 free lessons in 8 tracks: fundamentals, openings, palace defense, cannon tactics, horse technique, middlegame, endgame and advanced • Every rule shown on the board: the horse's leg, the elephant's eye, the cannon that captures over a screen, the generals that may never face each other • The rules that catch chess players out, taught first: having no legal move LOSES, and so does checking forever • Solve your first checkmate in the first minute, then take a 15-position skill assessment • The advanced track walks the classics, from the Juzhongmi to the Seven Stars endgame ■ CAN'T READ THE PIECES? START ANYWAY Every piece is a Chinese character on a wooden disc — the real reason most people never start. Pick traditional characters, western symbols or a hybrid of both, with a movement guide on every piece you touch. ■ PLAY OPPONENTS WITH PERSONALITY • Forty teahouse opponents, from a kid who just learned the moves to the Sage: a grandmother who never leaves her palace, a twin-cannon fanatic, an endgame grinder who waits you out • They play styles, not a dialed-down engine. Win twice against each one to mark it defeated • Stuck mid-game? The coach shows the best move and a one-line reason why ■ ANALYZE EVERY GAME • Pikafish, the open-source engine that tops the computer-xiangqi rating lists, runs entirely on your device • Every move graded from best to blunder, with an accuracy score for both sides • Mistakes named in xiangqi's own terms: a screenless cannon, a trapped horse, broken advisors, a missed Iron Bolt mate • Import games in WXF or ICCS notation and review them too ■ TRAIN WHAT YOU MISSED • 902 checkmate puzzles, mate-in-1 to mate-in-7, most from eight classical manuals such as the Shiqing Yaqu of 1570 — every line re-checked by the app's own solver, and any book problem that does not really work left out • Nine modules, including Mate Trail, Cannon Range, Horse Trails, Opening Lab, Palace Workshop, Endgame Studio and Handicap House, with more than 150 drills • A daily plan built from your own mistakes, with spaced repetition until they stick ■ WATCH YOURSELF IMPROVE • Estimated rating, with rating and accuracy over time • A five-axis skill profile and weakness trends that say what to work on this week ■ PRIVATE, OFFLINE, NATIVE • Fully offline. No account, no ads, no tracking, nothing collected • Native on iPhone, iPad and Mac, with an optional 3D board • WXF and Chinese notation, more than 30 languages, VoiceOver throughout • Game Center leaderboards and achievements FREE AND PREMIUM Free: all 80 lessons, the first drill set in every module, unlimited games against the first ten opponents, plus two game analyses, three puzzles and two coach hints a day. Xiangqiful Premium unlocks every drill and all forty opponents, removes the daily limits and adds deep multi-line analysis, the skill profile and weakness trends.
