A new era in healthcare is here for families across Melbourne’s west. Today, your new Footscray Hospital officially opened to patients.Located on the corner of Geelong and Ballarat roads, the more than $1.5 billion new Footscray Hospital was one of Victoria’s largest ever health infrastructure projects.The new hospital has now replaced the original Gordon Street Footscray Hospital.Once fully operational it will provide:more than 500 inpatient beds: including same-day, multi-day, critical care, sub-acute, drug and alcohol, and mental health servicesacute facilities: including an emergency department and mental health and alcohol and other drugs hubspecialist facilities: including cardiovascular/angiographic, operating theatres, procedural and endoscopy spaces and associated recovery spacesclinical support spaces: including medical imaging, pharmacy, central sterile services department, outpatients, mortuary and pathologycar parking: for patients, visitors, staff and other hospital usersteaching, training and research spaces.The new hospital has capacity to treat approximately 15,000 additional patients and enable around 20,000 additional people to be seen by the emergency department for life-threatening conditions each year.New Footscray Hospital is operated by Western Health.
