Die leichtgewichtige Server-Distribution DietPi für Single Board Computer ist Anfang Januar in Version 8.0 erschienen. Als Highlights des aktuellen Releases nennt das Projekt die Möglichkeit, über das Web-Interface DietPi-Dashboard mehrere DietPi-Knoten zu überwachen und zu verwalten, sowie bessere Kompatibilität und Hardwarebeschleunigung für das Kodi-Mediacenter auf dem Raspberry Pi. Außerdem behoben die Entwickler bei mehreren Java-basierten Softwareoptionen in DietPi die kürzlich bekannt gewordene kritische Sicherheitslücke Log4Shell. Weitere Neuerungen fassen die Release Notes zusammen. DietPi basiert auf Debian und lässt sich von der Projektseite in Form von je nach Architektur zwischen 100 und 350 MByte großen Minimal-Images für alle Raspberry-Pi-Modelle sowie zahlreiche Boards von Odroid, Pine64, NanoPi, Radxa, Allo und Asus herunterladen. Daneben stellen die Entwickler zum Ausprobieren auf dem PC Abbilddateien für alle gängigen Virtualisierer bereit. Der Quellcode von DietPi findet sich auf Github. Über die Softwareverwaltung DietPi-Software lässt sich das System um zahlreiche für die jeweilige Zielplattform optimierte Softwarepakete erweitern. Dabei decken die Downloads nicht nur servertypische Bereiche ab, wie Web-, File- und DNS-Server, SSH- und VPN-Dienste, Cloud und Backup sowie Wi-Fi und Home Automation. Daneben stehen auch diverse grafische Oberflächen und Anwendungen parat, um DietPi als Desktop-System zu nutzen.
