Nobody was injured as flames ripped through a four-unit block on the corner of Newton and Cabot Streets late Monday night into early Tuesday morning. Holyoke Police blocked sections of Cabot and High Street between about 11 p.m. Monday and 1:20 a.m. Tuesday as firefighters were seen climbing a ladder onto the duplex block's flaming roof and others were seen entering the buildings from the front door, evacuating residents. Upon responding to reports of a possible structure fire in the area, Holyoke Fire Capt. David Rex said he saw the abandoned unit furthest from the intersection on fire. He said, roughly 90 minutes into the fire's knockdown, that the fire was largely contained to only two of the four units.
