Q: Are FM ACOUSTICS products available ex stock now? A: Delivery terms change by the day and the stock and - back-order situation - changes accordingly. Pushing for earlier delivery does not work and it's also not a good idea - not for us and also not for our clients. Unlike most other products, FM ACOUSTICS are fully handcrafted. This means that every component is selected by hand ear and eye; every pc board is assembled with these selected components and then every pc board is hand soldered. These efforts are "inefficient" indeed, but they allow us to create units that are totally incomparable with anything else. Roboterized pc board stuffing and automatic soldering has its merits as it is 10-20 times cheaper but no components can be selected to achieve the absolute optimal performance. That can only be achieved with very time consuming fine-tuning. Who can imagine spending 3-5 days on a line stage squeezing the optimum out it - and this after all the previous selection. It's almost silly but there is such beauty in having absolutely no time constraints to strive to ultimate perfection. The result is that an FM ACOUSTICS takes many times longer to be crafted than all other audio components. This explains the sometimes longer delivery times and the much higher costs of production. But, Never rush production has been one of our motto that has been proven correct for many dozens of years. It will not be abandoned. The back-order situation is due to the order influx for the same products and now also due to the disruptions in production occurring pretty much worldwide. Some special components we use are quoted with deliveries in 82 weeks (that is weeks (!) not days). Our way of crafting a unit is very different so it is not possible to "ramp up" production like others can do. The actual delivery situation changes with order influx and production schedules.
