Analyse de l'application NewQuake: Earthquake Tracker pour le 17 octobre

NewQuake shows you what an earthquake actually did, not just its magnitude. Every significant quake comes with a map you can read. Replay the P and S seismic waves spreading from the epicenter, see ShakeMap shading where the ground shook hardest, watch the aftershock sequence fan out from the mainshock, and find the active faults nearby, including which plate is diving beneath which at a subduction zone. For the largest events, watch the finite-fault rupture unfold across the fault plane. What you get • Live for great quakes and tsunamis: while the waves are still travelling, the map draws them where they are right now • Recent feed with color-coded magnitudes, felt reports, JMA shindo for Japan, and aftershock sequence pills • Map tab with a satellite globe, plate boundaries, active faults, and every recent event in one view • Event pages with depth in context, energy released, fault type, and the official agency bulletin • Historical Quakes: the great and giant earthquakes of the past, plotted and replayable • Guided map tours of last week's notable quakes, and of the historic ones • Tsunami bulletins from NOAA, with the wavefront routed over the ocean floor and replayed • Ongoing volcanic eruptions from GDACS and the Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program • Notifications with your own magnitude and severity thresholds, per saved location • Optional Time-Sensitive alerts for dangerous nearby events • Home Screen widget with the latest event • A glossary that explains every term the app uses • No accounts, no advertising, no tracking Data sources U.S. Geological Survey, European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, Japan Meteorological Agency, NOAA / National Weather Service, GDACS, and the Smithsonian Institution's Global Volcanism Program. NewQuake is informational and may be delayed or incomplete. Follow official local emergency guidance for safety decisions.
