You do not need cell service to use the map and its navigation features. Completely redesigned for modern iOS, the app now features a faster, cleaner interface that's easier to use on both iPhone and iPad. Using your device's GPS, the map displays your current location on a high-resolution topo map with contour lines and slope shading built from high-resolution LIDAR data, dramatically increasing the detail of the terrain and improving the accuracy of the 30-degree slope shading. With a single tap, you can access information on more than 200 of the backcountry locations on the Wasatch Backcountry Skiing Guide website including photographs, skiing difficulty, skinning distance, vertical climb, parking considerations, and more.
