In October 2005, the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra (HPAC Orchestra) began its long-awaited inaugural season. This new orchestra is the center of the new Hyogo Performing Arts Center (HPAC), a symbol of the cultural rebirth of the Hanshin-Awaji region devastated by the 1995 earthquake. This orchestra is a fresh and international orchestra composed of young musicians selected by auditions around the world. In addition, it also has an academy element, and the orchestra members gain experience as an orchestra player by performing in various performances during their enrollment period. The Artistic Director is Yutaka Sado and concertmasters are Masaaki Tanokura, Kyoko Shikata and Yasushi Toyoshima. We have invited leading conductors, soloists, and coaches from Japan and overseas to develop a variety of activities such as subscription concerts, special cocerts, chamber music concerts, youth concerts, outreach activities, and operas produced by Yutaka Sado.
