Vulcanized Fiber was widely used on trunks to reinforce the edges without adding bulky metal reinforcements. The material is extremely tough, able to withstand years of use and abuse. This fiber already has a 90-degree angle, so there's no need to try to bend it into place. Although it is extremely durable, it can be cut easily with a razor, chop saw, snips, or shears. Our fiber is sold in 34” lengths. For a typical officer trunk restoration, three pieces would be required. One for each long side, and the third piece can be split to handle the short ends. Once cut to size, the fiber can be tacked to the trunk. Good quality push blocks are an essential safety aid when guiding stock through table saws, planers and router tables to keep your fingers clear of the blades. These push blocks are constructed from impact resistant polycarbonate for strength and durability. The handles have been ergonomically designed for comfort and are angled at 30° so that they can be used with either left or right hand proficiently.
