Curioso por naturaleza, como buen científico, era tan bajito que no le cabía ninguna duda; inventor, aventurero y romántico, sus imágenes anticipan las de Cornell Capa, Eisenstein e Yasuhiro Ozu. Pleno de intuición y modernidad, supo mirar a los hombres y mujeres sin exotismo, en su alteridad, con un gusto y sentido pictórico digno de Hergé.
