90%Congratulations to Manoram Agarwal! Together with his colleagues, he has recently published the paper „General approximator for strong-field ionization rates“ in Physical Review A, dealing with the results of his PhD thesis. Manoram and his colleagues addressed the long-standing problem of determining accurate, non-adiabatic ionization rates for atoms in strong laser fields—a quantity that is fundamental to attosecond science. They showed that it is possible to retrieve sub-optical-cycle dynamics of strong-field ionization from ionization probabilities obtained for a set of few-cycle laser pulses that covers a sufficiently broad parameter space. To make the phenomenon evident, Manoram constructed a semi-empirical model named „General Approximator For Strong Field Ionization Rates“ (GASFIR) that, given ab initio ionization probabilities for a set of pulses, allows retrieval of these sub-cycle ionization dynamics. „What makes GASFIR truly special is its ability to bridge the gap between the mechanistic clarity of analytical theory and the exactness of numerically computed observables, all while successfully accounting for the quantum mechanical interference present during the entire pulse“, Manoram explains.
