1-1/4"-12 left hand thread tube insert for 1-1/2" ID tubing (specifications below). The black oxide coating on the tube insert IS weldable. It does not need to be removed prior to welding, and will not produce any noxious fumes! In fact it saves time in most cases because there is no preparation. Installation tips: Chamfer the tubing similar to the chamfer already on the tube insert to get good penetration on the weld. An easier option (typically for the more experienced welder) is to pull the tube back from the edge of the tube insert about 1/8". DO NOT weld the tube insert with the end threaded in. If the weld splatters onto the threads, you'll have a heck of a time removing the end. When you weld it without the end threaded the splatter usually falls harmlessly into the tubing area. Specifications: Outer dimensions: 1-13/16" hex stock (uses a 1-13/16" wrench), 1-1/2" ID tube, 2-1/2" overall length, 0.85" protrusion into tubing Inner dimensions: 1-1/4"-12 left hand threads, 1-1/2" of threaded material
