日本の正月飾りの歴史は古く、一般家庭でも、平安時代後期には門松を飾る風習が始まっていたと言われています。正月飾りとして今も一般的に供えられているのが門松や鏡餅、そして今回作り方をご紹介する「しめ縄飾り」です。いずれも元々は「依代（よりしろ）」、つまり神が降臨する目印であり、家内の安全や豊穣などを祈る為、そして「結界（けっかい）」、悪しきもの・忌むものがやってこないよう祈る為のものです。このHow toでは、身近なフィールドへ出かけ、材料集めをするところからスタートし、しめ縄を自作する方法を紹介します。自宅でバケツ稲やプランター田んぼをしている方は、脱穀したあとの稲わらを使うと、愛情込めて育てた稲を無駄なく活用していただけます。オリジナルのしめ縄を作り、正月飾りを準備して、新しい年を迎えてみませんか？
