At the SPCA of Luzerne County, we recognized that many families surrendering beloved pets were not lacking love—they were facing hardship. Financial struggles, domestic violence, medical emergencies, housing instability, and the rising cost of pet care were forcing families into heartbreaking decisions. We knew we had to do more than shelter animals after a crisis—we had to help prevent the crisis itself. From that vision, Love Stays Home was born. Love Stays Home keeps pets with the families who love them through three critical programs: Kibble Connection, providing emergency pet food assistance; the Angel Fund, offering emergency veterinary care support; and Purple Paws Cause, which provides safe, confidential boarding for pets belonging to survivors of domestic violence. Together, these programs help families stay together during life’s most difficult moments—because no one should have to lose a beloved pet simply because they need help.
