The project stems from the need to create an urban environment dedicated to Rimini and tourism of all ages, usable 12 months a year.The idea on which the project is based is to create an urban park integrated with the naturalness of the beaches and the sea, insisting on a relaxed environment, where sand dunes and autochthonous vegetation arise and where natural materials such as wood and ceramics are used.The purpose of this new design for the seaside park is to promote culture, wellness and sport through various functions and activities that aspire to extend the use of the park throughout the year.Sinuous lines and colours accompany those walking along the Waterfront extension.Wooden and ceramic flooring suggest identifying themes for the different stretches and connect with the city through streets and squares, underlining a newfound city connection with the beach and the sea.The urban and coastal greenery takes the form of lawns, shrubs at different heights and trees, creating a natural and continuous shade over the entire promenade.The sea on the horizon always remains visible and together with the greenery constantly introduces nature to the promenade.The dunes are characterised by an oblong shape reminiscent of sardines and will become the main theme of the promenade.The dunes will be both sandy, ‘naturalising’ the stretch between the promenade and the beach, and earthy, introducing trees and shrubs in the most mineral area of the promenade.The different identities of Rimini will be represented in the paving, making the different stretches along the 6 km of promenade recognisable.Roman Rimini, with its mosaics and bridges, will be remembered, Malatesta and Albertiana Rimini will be recalled, homage will be paid to Federico Fellini and his unforgettable characters, the folkloric tradition of ballroom dancing will be exalted, and the importance of motors, the colonial era, and the Belle Epoque will be recalled.Each square will recall the main theme in a mosaic f
